August 2010

Would club members please be aware that SD2 has NOT managed to pass it's sea trials. There continues to be a problem with the fuel delivery system
making the boat unusable for the time being. We have plans to purchase and fit a pump diaphragm repair kit to eliminate pump efficiency problems due to wear.
We have to take this step by step approach to keep costs in check.
The RIB trailer has also got problems with the 'A' frame coupling, jockey wheel and the brakes. Again we have to assess availability and cost of parts-possibly another £200-£300.
In the meantime SD1 will continue to be used for diving but would members bear with us on availability as we will try and operate a rotational system to give everybody a dive.
The same people cannot expect to dive every week. Note that we can dive midweek and Saturdays also- conditions and availability of the right personnel permitting'.

One of our newer members, John Cunnah, sent a letter to his employers requesting a donation to the club. I am pleased to announce that the firm concerned, Howdens Joinery of Goole, donated £500.
We thank John for asking and I will write to Howdens expressing the club's thanks.
Coupled with Nerys Hinchliffe's fund raising effort early in the year, we have boosted income by £1200 from these two members.
The money has been very welcome as we have spent a lot of money on repair work, so thanks you two.
Our thanks also to every other club member who has helped to raise money for the club, it all helps to balance the books.
(I nearly said 'keep us afloat' but as divers .............!)
It is not only money that is needed to run a Branch. Personal input is required from members also. Again we thank those members who take part in and help with club activities
such as producing dance tickets, hauling dive gear about, towing boats, donating equipment, organising trips, scrounging raffle prizes. All of this work will help to keep the club healthy in the years to come.
Thanks everybody for all your efforts.

Thank Derek
