The branch is registered with BSAC HQ for Try Dive Month which is to be held throughout September. This is a recruitment drive that offers £10 try dives and BSAC have sent a pamphlet of ideas about promoting and running the event.
2008 AGM is scheduled for Thursday 25th September. Members are encouraged to attend particularly if you want a bigger say in branch business, programmes or plans.
A group of members headed by Rob Nilsson and Jacko is shortly heading for 4 days of diving off Plymouth and the Mermaids are once again flying off to the Red Sea for their annual pilgrimage.
This year’s new members who started out on the Ocean Diver course have made good progress. Rob and Declan Pearson are near to completing the Sports Diver qualification, Dare and Stuart Hinchliffe are qualified to OD and have begun the Sports Diver course and nerys Hinchliffe and Shane Thackeray have recently qualified to OD level. We hope that the one remaining ‘newcomer’, Keith Hornsby, will be able to complete his OD qualification in the next few weeks.
Remember that Covenham is still available as a dive facility and that it is FREE to members on Tuesday evenings . A brief reminder of the site rules:
1 no solo diving
2 log yourself and your buddy onto the log board at the top of the slipway
3 don’t park in the disabled bays
4 let your DO know that you’re going either by phone or e-mail
